Understanding Halo Chat actions

Learn how Start Project, Analyze Webpage, and Upload Files & Media work in Halo Chat

Halo Chat uses explicit input actions so you can choose exactly what to do next: start a guided project handoff, analyze a webpage URL, upload files, or insert saved assets from your Asset Library.

Action Row Overview

In the chat composer, the action row gives you four clear options:

  • Start Project: Guided interview that hands off approved inputs to a Halo Studio tool
  • Analyze Webpage: Paste a URL and let Halo extract/analyze page content with your brand context
  • Upload Files & Media: Attach image, document, audio, or video files for context
  • Insert from Asset Library: Attach a saved asset by reference without re-uploading it

When to Use Each Action

Using Actions

Use actions directly from the input row:

1
Choose an Action

Pick Start Project, Analyze Webpage, Upload Files & Media, or Insert from Asset Library depending on your goal.

2
Provide Input

For Analyze Webpage, paste a URL. For Upload Files, attach local files. For Insert from Asset Library, pick a saved asset. For Start Project, pick a project path and answer guided questions.

3
Continue in Chat

Halo keeps the context in your active thread so you can follow up, refine, or hand off to tools.

Action Behavior Details

  • Start Project intent handling: If your message clearly asks Halo to create a concrete deliverable (for example, a blog post or email sequence), Halo may guide you into the Start Project flow. You can always use the explicit Start Project button when you want a guided handoff.
  • Project path selection: After Start Project opens, choose a project path card to begin the guided questions. If you cancel, Halo returns to the normal idle action row.
  • Analyze Webpage validation: Analyze Webpage accepts public HTTP/S URLs and is designed for readable web pages (HTML/text). Login walls, blocked hosts, unsupported content types, or timeouts can cause extraction errors.
  • Resetting action state: You can cancel an active Start Project flow or close/reopen an action dialog to reset the current action state without deleting the conversation.
